Local Unit Administrative Updates – Spring 2015
Charge registration fees for workshops, services, and programs.
Add some additional dollars to registrations beyond the actual cost of the event.
Charge for Farm Bill consultations
Charge for soil samples and feed samples.
Charge businesses for Serv -Safe classes.
“Round up” the cost of “for sale” publications and other items such as radon test
kits. For example – kits cost $5.00. Charge the public $8.00.
Recover the cost of private applicator books.
Charge for Walk Kansas and shirts.
Charge for summer school nutrition classes.
Charge for Master Gardener garden tour.
Master Gardeners are charge $100 to participate.
Don’t order as many publications, print as needed.
Charge the fair board for printing the fair book.
Bus tour generates funds.
Form a district.
Charge for use of gas for county vehicle for 4-H trips.
4-H Carnival
Food auction and bake sale at county fair to help raise funds for 4-H program.
Challenge gift to encourage others to support/community fund account.
Charge 4-H clubs for members CCS project materials.
Each 4-H family gives a pledge.

Ask companies associated with products we use for school enrichment
programs to donate materials or for money for us to purchase
Collect donated items and keep until needed
We work closely with out Kansas Crossroads Resource Conservation and
Development area Inc who will administer our 501(c)3 funds for no overhead.
Recruit sponsorships
Not only for programs but for advertising
Get enough sponsors to cover the cost of the meeting and then charge
everyone that attends
Ask local, state and national ag producer associations to sponsor
extension events, including board meeting meals
Local banks and businesses
Give sponsorship acknowledgement on our website, Facebook page, and
newsletter

Sell agent time to the state
2 We charge outside organizations a fee to using our marquee/electronic sign.
A 4-H club does the meal and keeps the money. It is rotated to different clubs
that want to do it, which works easy for agent as there are no worries about the
meal.
Co-operate with other groups to share the total cost of an event.
Partnerships: provide nutrition education for other groups who have funding or
supplies (i.e. farmers market demos)
Sharing resources with neighboring offices – ex – travel together.
Work with other counties/districts or other agencies to put on programs and
share costs.
Put together a group of local outdoorsmen to start a committee to do a banquet
