Title of Presentation:
Next Generation of Multimedia Terminals
This presentation provides an overview of the Next Generation of Multimedia Terminals with
emphasis on the envisaged impacts on networks and NGN standardization. It begins with a brief
glance of requirements for next generation multimedia terminals from different perspectives, and
then provides a vision as to what tomorrow’s multimedia terminals will look like. Insights are
provided into the capabilities expected from the next generation multimedia terminals.
Technological advancements are identified as an important driving force and some key technology
areas are listed. We give the design philosophy for next generation multimedia standards followed
by an introduction to the new standard H.325 being made by ITU-T as an example.
