Larry Hjelmeland, Ph.D. Clinical Interests Dr. Hjelmeland's research is focused on the origins of age as a risk factor for the development of Age-related Macular Degeneration(AMD). Our current hypothesis is that the genome of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) undergoes a defined set of epigenetic modifications which promote the disease.
