Update on ITS Related Activities
• ITS, Intelligent Transport Systems, has been an area members of
TR-48 shown interests on.
– The group used to follow the ITS work through ISO TC 204 activities.
• With the development on US ITS, the interest on ITS has been
rekindled in TR-48.
• In preparation of re-engaging the work, Telcordia (Kevin Lu, former
Chair of TR-48) presented an introduction of the US ITS work and
the standards related to ITS in June meeting (June 25, 2011).
– We will have a follow-up presentation on introduction to "Vehicle-to-Vehicle
Communications“ in August meeting (August 25, 2011).
• One area of interests is to link Commercial Mobile Services (CMS)
and other accesses, such as BlueTooth, with ITS as auxiliary
accesses for non-emergency services.
• The objective is to start a Project on ITS in 2012.
