Syed Husain Is a Senior Manager in the GTSS Global Standards Organization at Motorola. Syed has over 20 years of telecommunication experience in the areas of Digital Switching, ISDN, Intelligent Networking (IN), and Mobile Communications. Prior to joining Motorola, he worked at GTE, from 1980 to 1984, and AT&T Bell Laboratories/Lucent Technologies, from 1984 to 1994. Since joining Motorola, in 1994, Syed has been working in the area of wireless network standards and architecture. Mr. Husain has been attending the ITU-T SG 11 meetings since 1989. Initially focusing on Intelligent Network and now primarily on IMT-2000 (3rd generation wireless) standards. He was one of the key contributors during the development of IN CS-1 standards, that were approved in 1992. Since 1995, his primary focus in SG 11 has been towards the development of IMT-2000 standards. Currently, Syed is the V. Chair of the newly formed Special Study Group (SSG) on IMT-2000 and Beyond that is developing IMT-2000 Q.1700 series Recommendations. Within Motorola, he is managing the IP-based Network standards area focusing on the development of IP Core Network standards efforts underway in 3GPP, 3GPP2, IETF, ITU-T, 3G.IP and MWIF committees. He has provided a lead role in IMT-2000 network Standardization activities within Motorola. He is a spokes-person for Motorola on third generation network standards. Syed received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Syracuse University both in Electrical Engineering. He is a member of IEEE.
