Global Standards Collaboration (GSC) 14 DOCUMENT #: GSC14-GTSC7-015 FOR: Presentation SOURCE: CCSA AGENDA ITEM: GTSC-7 4.1 CONTACT(S): liuduo@mail.ritt.com.cn Standardization activities on NGN in CCSA Duo LIU Deputy Secretary General of CCSA Geneva, 13-16 July 2009 Fostering worldwide interoperability Highlight of Current Activities (1) The standardization activities on NGN in CCSA are progressing smoothly. Besides referring to the relevant specifications or drafts issued by international SDOs, CCSA also works on building some specifications based on requirements from China market. Recently works: Unified IMS aspect Protocols: SIP specifications in IMS(YD/T, Working on) Services: CRT, CRBT, IP Centrex, CW, MCID, ACR (6 YD/T, completed) Click to Dial, Multimedia Conference(YD/T, Working on) Test specifications of SIMPLE IM, PoC, Presence, XDM(4 YD/T, Working on) Equipments: P-CSCF,I/S-CSCF,HSS,SBC(YD/T, Working on)) Interworking: SIP&BICC interworking, IMS interworks between different operators, IMS interworks with softswitch network (3 YD/T, Working on), 2 Fostering worldwide interoperability Highlight of Current Activities (2) • Recently works: (Con.) – API aspect • Personal Application based on Parlay X API (YDB, completed) • Enterprise Application based on Parlay X API (YDB, ,completed) • Test Methods of Parlay Gateway(YD/T, completed) – Unified Communication • Requirements of UC services(YD/T, completed) • Research of UC technologies and standardization requirements(research report, completed) • Interface Technical Requirement of Instant Message and Voice Communication Service for UC(YD/T, working on) – IDM • IDM research in NGN (research report, completed) • Requirement of IDM in NGN, Architecture of IDM in NGN, Deployment mechanism of IDM in NGN(3 research report, new work item) – Emergency Communication • Emergency Communication in NGN(TR ,completed) 3 Fostering worldwide interoperability Highlight of Current Activities (2) • Recently works: (Con.) – Security • Security framework of NGN (TR, completed) • security requirements of softswitch equipments (Serial YD/T, completed) • Security requirements of Unified IMS (TR, working on) – others • FMC service requirement analysis(research report, completed) • Capabilities and requirements of Enterprise network connecting to NGN(TR, working on) • NGN based IPTV(research report, completed) • Mobility research in NGN (research report, working on) • Working closely with other SDOs. CCSA not only refers to the achievement of other SDO’s Standardization, but also presents lots of contributions to SDOs, such as ITU-T, 3GPP, 3GPP2,OMA,DSL Forum, etc, based on technical research and developed specifications 4 Fostering worldwide interoperability Strategic Direction Continue to develop specifications of NGN in CCSA While “Convergence” has been a marked trend, CCSA will pay attention to its influence on current and new specifications, not only FMC, but also the convergence of telecom network and internet, the convergence of legacy telecom services with content-based services, and so on. Develop and motivate the research in new technical domains UC(Unified Communications)related specifications have and are going on “M2M” or “Ubiquitous Network ” related specifications are under consideration Combination of “P2P” and “NGN” N-ID, IDM aspect, etc. 5 Fostering worldwide interoperability Strategic Direction (Con.) Research on new solutions, such as PTDN, Future internet. Develop specifications related to EC, security protection, and ICT(Energy Saver and Exhaust Reducer ) in NGN scope Continue coordination and collaboration, take part in the relevant activities and meetings, establish smooth relationship with other SDOs Share CCSA view Being involved and delivering contributions 6 Fostering worldwide interoperability Challenges Convergence of different networks, applications&services, etc. Ubiquitous services Requirements of users, span over different terminals, different access technologies, different networks, different industries, etc. The scope of NGN is being enlarged. Mobility Management Service assurance QoS assurance Security, etc. New techniques emerging over time, and their combination with NGN, (e.g. P2P, Grid, Mash UP, Widget.) need to be considered Information processing-related capabilities are becoming important, and has introduce many challenges on developing relevant standardizations Social responsibilities Environment Disable people Emergency communication and security, etc 7 Fostering worldwide interoperability Next Steps/Actions Continue to develop NGN-related specifications Unified IMS, API, UC, IDM, EC, security, Home Network, etc. Initiate some new research items , based on new trends and new technique, some HISs are probably as following: NID/IDM IMS based P2P application Framework of future network Ubiquitous Network service Network aspect research Split of identifier and location Architecture or realization of UC, etc. Continue to work cooperatively with external organizations 8 Fostering worldwide interoperability Supplemental Slides 9 Fostering worldwide interoperability Unified Communication(UC) standards Research of Unified Communications Technologies and Standardization Requirements(research report) 10 completed Requirements of Unified Communications Services(YD/T) ongoing Interface Technical Requirement of Instant Message and Voice Communication Service for Unified Communication(YD/T) Fostering worldwide interoperability Standardization requirements analysis Architecture Interworking between service features Application interface 11 Standardization requirements of UC are given from three aspects: •Architecture •Interworking between service features – Including Voice, IM, Presence, XDM, teleconference, Video, data collaboration, etc. •Application interfaces Fostering worldwide interoperability Requirements of Unified Communications Services Basic capabilities • Authentication &authorization • Network Address Book • Presence • Voice Communication • Tele-conference • IM • Configuration Management 12 Additional capabilities • Point –to-Point video communication • Network fax • Data collaboration • Service capability adaptation • Switch between different media modes, i.e. switch between voice and video • Multimedia conference • SMS&MMS • Enterprise application integration • Customized • other value-added services supporting, i,.e.
