The materials can be provided for other PSOs for their further plans and investigations. Elaborated on the latest technologies and the standardization activities on Home Networks Analysis on the relationship between the De-facto standards and de-jure standards Geneva, 13-16 July 2009 Fostering worldwide interoperability 3 General review of fora 2008 227 fora of ICT worldwide statistically in 2008. Implementation/inter operability:67 de facto standard:68 Pre-standard:46 Others:46 Statistics of number of fora with the different active purpose Fostering worldwide interoperability Challenges-- How to harmonize the De-facto standards Facts: In 2008, the de-facto and interoperability (also related to “fact” ) account for nearly 60% of the fora activities. Those standards were discussed and produced inside the fora, lack of the related industry-level information from the Standardization Organization Interoperability issues Excluding of other technologies Cooperation of the fora and standard organization is needed FORA Market exploration new technique researching and updating Pre-standardization Stand. Org harmonization of the fora researching advancement of the standards Producing the standard Fostering worldwide interoperability Topic: research of HN standardization Home network is a network with multiple devices connected by wired or wireless technology in a limited area (e.g., inside a home or office), and this network is built to meet the customer requirements and provide services and applications to customers. Industry IT/consumer electronics Understanding of home network Application maturity Breaking “information islands”, connecting among Not mature yet, mainly test in laboratory the information devices, communication Less commercial implementation equipments and consumer electronics devices to implement resource sharing and collaborative working Communication Residential community /Property management connecting with telecommunication network, or Mature industry chain, services and applications have been accepted by even be part of E2E telecommunication network, consumers extending the functions and applications of public Applications include sharing broadband connection among multiple network to home by residential gateway. PCs, trip-play services, parent control, etc. and Mature technology and many products available intelligent home, may provide such services as Have been deployed in many areas remote automatic metering, community and home The concept of intelligent community security, community medical service, etc. Fostering worldwide interoperability Relationship of HN standardization organizations Application Layer Interconnecting of home network and public network Information sharing inside home Broadband Forum, HGI, ITU-T, OMA, ETSI, CCSA DLNA, UPnP, IGRS Physical Layer Home Plug MoCA Home PNA Control and monitor LonMark, KNX, ECHONET, ITOPHOME ITU-T SG9&15 IEEE 802.11 IEEE 802.15 Fostering worldwide interoperability Analysis of the number of members Scale List of organizations Total Small size HomePNA, ITOPHOME 2 Medium size HGI, OSGi, MoCA, HomePlug, ECHONET 5 Large size Broadband Forum, OMA, DLNA, KNX, CCSA, IGRS 6 Very large ETSI, UPnP, size IEEE, LonMark ITU-T, Small size: <=50 members Medium size: 51-100 members Large size: 101-300 members Very large size: >300 members 5 Fostering worldwide interoperability Next step CJK will keep endeavoring collaborating on the Fora/consortia survey and contribute to GSC in the future Provide for other SDOs in necessary, to share this information in a wide area Fostering worldwide interoperability
