on Fora/Consortia
CJK
Geneva, 13-16 July 2009
Fostering worldwide interoperability
Background of Joint Survey on fora
GSC Meeting
TTC proposed a collaboration in fora survey among CJK members
in 2005(GSC10) → Agreed (April.06)
TTC presented the first report of survey at GSC12
CJK Standard Meeting
CCSA as the convener of Ad-hoc Group on Fora is responsible at CJK9
(the convener of AHGF is rotated among CJK Members (TTC-> TTA->CCSA)
→ Agreed (CJK7))
CCSA has surveyed and analyzed about 227 fora (excluding fora of CJK)
CCSA will present the revised report of fora survey at GSC14
Fostering worldwide interoperability
Highlight of Current Activities
Made a detailed survey over 227 fora worldwidely, took the analysis and statistics in the
multiple dimensions. The materials can be
provided for other PSOs for their further plans
and investigations.
Elaborated on the latest technologies and the
standardization activities on Home Networks
Analysis on the relationship between the De-facto
standards and de-jure standards

Analysis of the fora purpose of activity
De facto standard: a convention, product, or system that has achieved a dominant position
by public acceptance or market forces
Pre-standardization: To produce standards which are likely to be contributed to the standard
development organization

Challenges-- How to harmonize the
De-facto standards
Facts:
In 2008, the de-facto and
interoperability (also related to
“fact” ) account for nearly 60% of
the fora activities.
Those standards were discussed and
produced inside the fora, lack of the
related industry-level information from
the Standardization Organization

Home network is a network with multiple devices connected by wired or wireless
technology in a limited area (e.g., inside a home or office), and this network is built
to meet the customer requirements and provide services and applications to
