ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The EDRC has just published a comprehensive

Report titled “Business Ethics and Religious

Values in the European Union and Malta –

For A Moral Level Playing Field.” This comprises 19 contributions. The Report is available in advance to all who register for the

Conference.

Aimed at the concerned citizen, this EDRC

Conference brings together a number of eminent guest speakers and writers from academe, the world of politics, and civil society action to help us raise and answer such questions as: What is true corporate social and environmental responsibility? Can all companies be trusted with the future? Do they require monitoring, and if so, by whom? Does ‘Fair Trade’ have a chance?

Can companies afford to be ‘good’? Do the global and European trade and commerce systems offer the best policy mix? What is Malta’s own policy mix? What role can religious ethical principles play in guiding international trade?

This Conference will look to the future, both immediate and medium-term. Eight distinguished speakers will take the debate forward on all fronts.

The Workshops will provide a unique opportunity to juxtapose the vision of the expert speakers as to trends in the European Union and in other

Member States and Maltese law, practice and culture, enabling us in Malta to chart our own way forward.
