Mr. Julian Azzopardi is currently CEO of the Junior Achievement –
Young Enterprise Malta Foundation (JA-YE Malta), an NGO that
provides entrepreneurship education programmes to youth at
primary, secondary, post-secondary and tertiary level educational
institutions in Malta and Gozo. Prior to this role Julian has held
various roles in the private, public and tertiary sector, including
General Manager at Link Projects Ltd., Head of Programmes and
Services at The Inspire Foundation in Malta and European Policy
Consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers Europe as well as
Structural Funds Administrator within the European Commission’s
Directorate General for Regional Policy in Brussels, Belgium.
Julian is also the Founder of The RA1SE Foundation – One for
Good Causes, a general purpose NGO that assists charitable organisations with fundraising,
campaign awareness and volunteering opportunities in Malta and Abroad. Julian is the recipient of
the 2008 Junior Chamber International Maltese Young Outstanding Person of the Year award for
Leadership in Volunteering and 2009 Junior Chamber International Top 10 Outstanding Young
Persons of the Year Award for Leadership in Volunteering.
Mr. Joseph Farrugia has occupied the post of Director General of the
Malta Employers’ Association since 2001. He is also a visiting lecturer at
the Department of Marketing at the University of Malta. Mr Farrugia has
extensive experience in marketing consultancy and human resources
management. Between 2010 and 2013 he served as President of the Malta
College of Arts, Science and Technology. Mr. Farrugia sits on the board of
directors of the Employment and Training Corporation, the Employment
Relations Board and represents the MEA on the Malta Council for
Economic and Social Development.
Mr. Charles Theuma is the founder of Saint Martin's Institute of Higher
Education a licensed Higher Education Institution by the National
Commission of Further and Higher Education and an Affiliate of the
University of London. Mr Theuma is an accomplished lecturer in strategic
management, information systems, European business and
Entrepreneurship.
Ms. Angele Giuliano is an experienced entrepreneur and consultant in the field of
eLearning and Web 2.0 technologies, eHealth applications for independent living
and digital cultural heritage. Angele was chosen as the face of Maltese SMEs in the
first European SME week in May 2009. She has participated in a series of
transnational EU funded projects – especially FP7, Life Long Learning and eContent
related projects.
She has performed evaluations and reviews for the European Commission in their
Research and eContent programmes since 2001. Her personal ambition is to see
more women taking up (and staying) in technology as a life-long career, thus
Angele is very active in several fora and initiatives both in Europe and worldwide
that focus on gender and technology, namely, WINNET, ECWT, AFFAEMME, and
she is also the President of the Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs in Malta.
Angele has also been appointed as member of the Advisory Board for SMEs for Horizon2020.
Mr. Jason Potter is co-founder and director of The Other Guys, a digital
agency based in Malta. Jason also runs and manages his own consultancy,
Braveagle out the United Kingdom which is focused on Strategic
management services to businesses.
Prior to establishing Braveagle he was Group Social Media Manager of
Corinthia Hotels and before that Operations Analyst for CHI Hotels &
Resorts. He has executive operational experience in various hotels
including the Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa, Cranfield Hotel and
Conference Centre in the UK and several positions with De Vere Hotels.
Jason holds a BA (Hons) in Hospitality Management from Nottingham
Trent University and in 2010 graduated with an MBA. For last 18 months
Jason along with his business partners, Jason has been developing “a
different kind of thinking” approach to the ever going world of digital with The Other Guys and this
year they were awarded both Start-up of the year and digital company of the year at Malta’s
Entrepreneurs Awards.
