Selection of tutors was based on GPA and faculty recommendations. 2007-Present Member, Alpha Chi Sigma Chemistry Fraternity Description: Alpha Chi Sigma is a coed professional fraternity revolving around those interested in the sciences. 2007-2010 Mathematics Undergraduate Instructor Description: Undergraduate Position only that requires a mathematics major or strong math background. Duties include 8-10 hours/week assisting a professor who is teaching a freshman level course in various tasks such as proctoring and grading exams, grading homework, and running departmental help sessions for all students in the class. Service 2010 Shade Tree Clinic, Vanderbilt University Description: A free clinic that offers its services to the underserved in Nashville, TN. Here 1st and 2nd year medical students practice taking patient history, IV blood draw, physical exams, and presenting cases to attending physicians with a 3rd or 4th year medical student. Spring 2009 Habitat for Humanity Katrina relief trip: Volunteer Description: During Spring break of 2009 the IU Habitat for Humanity chapter sent volunteers to Mandeville, LA in order to build and finish houses for families that lost their homes during Hurricane Katrina. Summer 2008 Emergency Room Volunteer Program: Volunteer Description: Student volunteers with the program assist the physicians and staff of the Bloomington Hospital Emergency Department with any duties they need completed. This involves changing linen, restocking rooms with necessary supplies, escorting patients to various locations within the hospital, escorting patients to their cars upon discharge, and various other duties assigned by the staff. These duties do not include direct medical contact with patients but may include, with physician consent, the observation of procedures conducted in the emergency department. Each volunteer shift is three hours. One shift is required per week. 2008 Wonderlab: Volunteer Description: Wonderlab is a children’s science museum in Bloomington, IN. Volunteers at Wonderlab participate in hands-on science experiences with children in order to provide a fun, educational experience. 2007-2009 Early High School College Mentoring Program: Volunteer Description: High School tutoring program. Tutoring includes running groups sessions for basic mathematics and English writing skills, along with teaching students resume writing and basic study habits. 2007-2010 Campus Kitchens Project: Co-founder/Vice President and Treasurer Description: The Indiana University Campus Kitchens Project is dedicated to strengthen bodies by using existing resources to meet hunger and nutritional needs in our community; empowering minds by providing leadership and service learning opportunities to students, and educational benefits to adults, seniors, children, and families in need; and, building communities by fostering a new generation of community-minded adults through resourceful and mutually beneficial partnerships among students, social service agencies, businesses, and schools. I was personally involved with the founding of the chapter at Indiana University. Campus Kitchens Awards: -Metz Grant Winners: Funding for the Metz Grant Program comes from the Arthur R. Metz Philanthropic Opportunity Fund and is administered through the IUSF Special Events Committee. Organizations may apply for amounts up to $5,000. Ten finalists are required to make a presentation to the selection committee. The IU Campus kitchens project was awarded $5000.00 to help further its goals of hunger awareness and feeding those in need within the Bloomington Community. 2007-2010 Indiana University Timmy Foundation: Volunteer 2006-2010, Board of Health Education and Advocacy 20082010 Description: The IU Timmy Foundation envisions a world in which basic healthcare and education are available to all children. Our mission is building healthy futures worldwide, one child at a time. We accomplish this by strengthening community-based health and education initiatives and empowering students to share their energy and compassion. I am personally involved with the board of health advocacy and education. The part of the Timmy foundation is involved with the local Bloomington community. The board organizes health fairs at local elementary schools were young 3 students learn about the importance of establishing and maintaining healthy eating habits. 2006-2007 Wright-Quad Dormitory Student Government: Governor Description: Elected to the Wright-Quad board of Governors in the fall of 2006. The board of Governors was responsible for planning dormitory social events and creating fundamental dorm policies. The Board of Governors met weekly to discuss and vote on issues concerning Wright-Quad. ADDITIONAL Skills: Excel, PowerPoint 4
