Joyce E. Yuille Biography www.joyceyuille.com “Joyce has a style that is sharp, convincing and striking. Capable of delivering a powerful impact without the additional vocal aerobics.” Veronica Benigno, La Voce (Italy), September 9, 2011 Gospel, jazz, soul and blues are the backgrounds of Joyce Yuille. Starting her venture into the world as a runway model she eventually found her true path…The union between her soul, love of music and God given talent as a singer. Being born in New York City has definitely taught her the art of entertainment. A mixture of multi ethnicity that only a city like New York can offer, a melting pot that has aided in her creativity and way to approach life. Accepting everyone as they are and always striving to share a dream and vision. Extremely influenced by diverse styles of music not to mention she was born in the same neighborhood as the legendary Tito "Mambo King", Puente. Her admiration for divas such as Sarah Vaughn, Nina Simone, Etta James and all time favorite, Phyllis Hyman, have influenced her to create a personal style that is respectfully appreciated and admired by her audience. Nonetheless, her heart and soul is the key during her performances, her gift to touch the public profoundly and always leave them with a “special feeling” and something warm to take home. In her teens, Joyce entered into one of the most prestigious high schools in New York City, which was introduced to the world in the film "FAME". It was during her attendance at the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of The Music and the Performing Arts where she began to focus on studying music. Eventually relocating to Milan Italy, she united with two local musicians and formed the group 3*D. The group recorded a version of Toto’s Georgy Porgy and the track was stylishly remixed by JP “Bluey” Maunick of Incognito fame and by Steve Lyon (Paul McCartney, Tears for Fears, The Cure). With the latter remixing the whole project entitled “Deep Inside” on Sony/Tristar. After reaching commercial success in The United States with the “single” the group unfortunately faced difficulties and was forced to retire. Joyce has been fortunate to work with many well-known Italian and international artists such as Paolo Conte, Randy Crawford, Ron, Donna Summer, Laura Pausini, Elio e Le Storie Tese, Andrea Mingardi, The Blues Bros.Band, Eddie Floyd, Ronan Keating, Flavio Boltro, along with many other well known Italian jazz artist and the celebrated disco diva Gloria Gaynor with whom she had a six year role as a backing singer throughout her Italian and European tours. There have also been a few appearances on Italian television such as for RAI and Mediaset and her voice has been featured on a number of commercial and radio jingles. Nonetheless, Joyce’s smooth and more profound vocal talents are far more easily recognized in jazz which is her primary genre and blues/soul where she has demonstrated her get down “nitty-gritty” style. Joyce still continues to demonstrate her talents and more than often performs at numerous jazz and blues festivals in Italy and around Europe. She has participated at events such as the Umbria Jazz Festival (Italy), Five consecutive editions of the Rapperswil Blues & Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Treviso Blues Festival (Italy), Jazz Is Back (Croatia), Donne in Jazz (Italy), Mara Jazz Festival (Italy), Alma Jazz Festival (Italy), Ferrara in Jazz (Italy), Jazz Sotto Le Stelle Festival(Italy), World Music Festival on the Beach (Italy), Ascona Jazz Festival Switzerland), Trasimeno Blues Festival (Italy), Mantova Music Festival (Italy), ISEO Jazz Festival (Italy), MITO Settembre Musica (Italy). In addition to many other events in Italy and around Europe. Her vocal style, sultry wittiness and on stage energy is sure to capture the attention of any and everyone. An intense charisma that touches and falls deep into the hearts of all who listen. Copyright©JoyceE.Yuille 2011
