has expertise in environmental law and
Internet law, including domain name
disputes, security and privacy concerns,
contracts for e-commerce, and other
online legal issues.
Mehrbani is chair of the board of
directors for the Rock ‘N’ Roll Camp for
Girls, a past board member for Queen’s
Bench of the Multnomah chapter of
Oregon Women Lawyers, and a member
of Lane Powell’s Diversity Committee,
which works with the Oregon State Bar on
various diversity events and issues. She
also regularly mentors students at Lewis &
Clark’s law school through its mentoring

What is the best part of being an attorney?
Helping individuals and businesses solve their
problems in creative ways. I like being part of
the decision-making process with my clients
when they are developing new products or
services, implementing new programs, or
making other business decisions.
If you hadn’t become an attorney, what
career would you have pursued and why?
A travel writer, because I love to travel and
creative writing was my first passion.
Which living person do you most admire?
Barack Obama.
arna Mehrbani loves the law and
loves her community, and it
shows in both places.
Mehrbani doesn’t just give back doing
pro bono work here and there; she does it
with downright zeal.
In 2010 she won the Oregon New
Lawyers Division Pro Bono Challenge for
the most pro bono hours worked by an
individual in a large firm. She’s also on
the Multnomah Bar Association’s Pro
Bono Honor Roll and has received the
Lewis & Clark Law School’s Pro Bono
Honors Award.
Mehrbani is also a successful
intellectual property attorney and firm

shareholder at Lane Powell, and is not
afraid to go head-to-head with more
senior lawyers. She has represented and
defended numerous intellectual property
cases, representing a diverse group of
clients, including companies with
hundreds of thousands of employees,
nonprofits and small, local businesses.
She specializes in all aspects of
intellectual property law, including
trademark, copyright, right of publicity,
trade secret, licensing, and all manner of
contracting and litigation. She manages
the firm’s trademark practice, covering
federal, state and international clearance,
registration and enforcement. She also

What is your favorite website, and why?
I am an avid knitter and a knitting teacher,
so I have to say Ravelry.com – it is an online community for knitters and a very
creative place.
What would you never wear?
Suspenders, heels higher than 4 inches, and
those tight pants that American football
players wear.
