1. International Cooperation Activity (Pilot Project)
■1-1. APT Pilot Project to support the Development of Telecommunication
in Developing Countries (Utilizing budget of International Organization )
Participate in ICT Human Resource Development Program, which is based on the extra budgetary
contribution from Japanese Government to APT (Asia Pacific Tele-community) *
Carry out experiments of e-medicine / e-education in some rural areas of developing countries,
constructing a network with Wireless LAN System developed by KDDI R&D Labs.
Proposals from KDDI have been adopted for 5 consecutive years.
(Work together with local organization, Waseda University.)
[aim]
・Demonstrate the applicability of Wireless LAN System (CFO-SS) in rural areas
of developing countries,
Show the possibility of improvement in the quality of life (bridging the digital divide)
by ICT in developing countries
・ Expansion and Development of usage in the wider areas from a pilot project are expected

1. International Cooperation Activity(Pilot Project)
■ 1-2. KDDI original project to support developing countries (source of funds: KDDI)
[Concrete Activity]
Support for building Internet network in Cambodian Schools
(Since 2005):
KDDI supports to improve an Internet access environment in Cambodian schools, which
are constructed by the donation from KDDI group. The project was carried out
collaborating with Japan Relief for Cambodia (local NGO), utilizing KDDI original fund.
Realized the environment for School-Internet, remote education utilizing
Wireless LAN System.

related to telecommunication development.
Share the knowledge of KDDI’s technologies / know-how with developing countries for their smooth

6. International Cooperation Activity(Consulting)
■ KEC’s Consulting Business to support the development of telecommunication
KDDI Engineering & Consulting (KEC) executes a consulting business of telecommunication in
Japan and also in foreign countries, based on the demands of Official Development Assistance
(ODA ) and private company.
Positively receiving many consulting items of foreign telecommunication, KEC has contributed
to international cooperation activities.
