2-2 Research on Mind-Body
Interactions and Health (NIH)
The National Institutes of Health invites
applications in support of research on
mind-body interactions and health. Mindbody interactions and health refers to the
relationships among cognitions, emotions,
personality, social relationships, and
health. A central goal of this program is to
encourage interdisciplinary collaboration
and innovation towards understanding the
processes underlying mind-body interactions and health as well as towards the
application of such basic knowledge and
interventions and clinical practice in the
promotion of health and the prevention or
treatment of disease and disabilities. PA05-027 (NIHG 12/10/04)

Networks and Pathways (NIH)
The National Institutes of Health invites
applications for NIH National Technology
Centers for Networks and Pathways
(TCNP). These centers will cooperate in a
networked national effort to develop
highly novel, integrated, and broadly
applicable proteomics technologies, to

at the fundamental technological challenges inherent in acquiring quantitative
information at the high anatomic resolution (subcellular) and biologically relevant timescales necessary for temporal
and spatial characterization of complex
biochemical pathways and molecular
interactions. Beyond cataloging of proteins and their binary interations, these
methods will be directed toward quantitatively defining the dynamics of complex systems. RFA-RM-04-019 (NIHG

2-6 Nanoscale Science and
Engineering Education (NSEE) (NSF)
This solicitation continues a comprehen-
sive effort on the part of the National Science Foundation (NSF) to enhance formal
and informal education in nanoscale science, engineering, and technology. Its
goals are to develop strong partnerships
linking science educators with nanoscale
science and engineering researchers, and
to increase knowledge of advances in
nanoscale research and technology and
their impact on society. To attain the overarching program goals, NSEE encompasses two independent components: (A)
Nanoscale Informal Science Education
(NISE); and (B) Nanotechnology Undergraduate Education (NUE). For NISE, an
eligible organization may participate in
only one proposal, as either a lead or as a
partner organization. For NUE, only one
proposal may be submitted by any institution as the lead institution with the following exception: An institution may
submit a second proposal as the lead institution if it is focused on the societal, ethical, economic and/or environmental
implications of nanoscale science and
technology. Please contact Jim Guikema,
785-532-6195, guikema@ksu.edu, by

research as well as to build upon work on
RLS-related dysfunctions in dopamine
systems and iron transport mechanisms.
Of particular relevance to this PA are
applications that address the sensory gating and circadian timing aspects of RLS
which are defining features of the condition. Studies in both humans and animal
models are encouraged. PA-05-032
