You should remember your audience is younger children - make your article understandable to them. Your job is to take charge of the production of the leaflet. You must not copy other articles or ‘cut and paste’ information: use the information you gather to write your own article. If you need help it is your responsibility to try to get it. Art and Layout Manager You have to work to the editor’s deadlines. It is your job to fit the reporter’s stories onto the pages of the leaflet and to edit them for any errors, to shorten them if they are too long and to get the reporters to gat more information if needed. You also have to check that the stories are suitable for a young audience - not too complicated, sentences not too long, layout clear and easy to read. You also have to find pictures and to adjust the layout of the pages as needed. You need to get help when you need it. You have to assign tasks to your staff and see that they are carried out. You have to treat your staff fairly and ensure everyone is given an equal share of the interesting and important tasks. You have to help your staff with their tasks when they need help. Yours is the final responsibility for the leaflet: the stories in it, the quality of the writing and the standard of presentation.
