Dissertation Progress Diary Student’s Name Address Telephone E-mail Primary Other students involved Secondary Dissertation Title Proposal Accepted on Supervisor’s Name Advisor/Consultant’s Name Using this Diary The aim of this Diary is to keep a record of the progress of the dissertation during the course of study. This record will reflect the number of meetings with your supervisor/advisor. The Diary also serves as evidence of your work in completing the dissertation and can eventually be inserted in your portfolio. The Progress Diary is to be presented together with your dissertation. Each time you have a meeting with your supervisor/advisor, you need to fill-in the details of the discussion and advice given, together with the date and signatures and an agenda of tasks for the next meeting. This will help you track your progress while working on your dissertation. Doing your Dissertation • Always ask your supervisor/advisor for an appointment beforehand. • Plan and discuss your work with your supervisor/advisor regularly. • Always obtain the necessary approval before going to schools to carry out your research. • Check the Dissertation Guidebook for the layout of your dissertation. • Keep a check on the number of words allowed. • Remember that copying directly from other sources without acknowledgement is plagiarism. Always reference your sources. • Use approved and consistent reference styles. • It is your responsibility to work steadily on your dissertation. Do not leave all the work to the last year of studies. • Always get the progress diary for meetings. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the appointment.
