Step right back into the past at Britain’s best preserved Second World War airfield, home to a unique collection of civil and military aircraft that chronicle the story of flight and demonstrate Scotland’s role in it. • A new interactive flight exhibition will open mid 2009. Examine how and why things fly, with interactive displays demonstrating the mechanics of flight. • East Fortune Airfield has been designated a historic scheduled ancient monument. A new exhibition, examining the history of the airfield and the role it played in both World Wars, will open mid 2009. This exhibition is the first since her entire collection of over 18,000 sketches, patterns and finished garments was donated to National Museums Scotland in 2005.
