Minutes Faculty Senate Meeting December 1, 2010 Professor Leigh Riddick called the meeting to order at 2:25 P.M. Present: Professors Leigh Riddick, Lyn Stallings, Jim Girard, Naomi Baron, Phil Brenner, Barlow Burke, Al Cheh, Larry Engel, Clement Ho, Phil Jacoby, Jonathan Loesberg, Jie Lu, Sarah Menke-Fish, Mary Mintz, Kathryn Montgomery, Lenny Steinhorn; Provost Scott Bass and Dean Phyllis Peres Welcome and Introduction, Professor Leigh Riddick Professor Riddick welcomed everyone to the meeting and distributed the role. She thanked Professor Girard and Professor Stallings for leading the past Senate meeting in her absence. Professor Riddick congratulated Professor Stallings and Professor Girard on a job well done for completing the Faculty Manual review. Chair’s Report Professor Riddick reported that the Ad Hoc Academic Rules and Regulations committee has solidified a plan for the review process. The committee will have three meetings over the holiday break to finalize and create a draft document of the regulations to present to the Senate next semester. Professor Riddick informed the Senate that the remainder of the meeting would be spent reviewing some concerns about the Grievance section of the manual with the assistance of Professor Scott Parker, Chair of the Equity and Grievance Committee and then, if time allowed, then review would begin on the Senate by-laws. Review of the Faculty Manual begins, Professor Lyn Stallings The remainder of the meeting was spent reviewing the Faculty Manual.
