University of Malta Graduates: 1998-2007
Whist more students are graduating now then ten years ago, there still exist gender gaps in the choices
for male and female students. Overall, more female students are completing courses than male
students, with more females obtaining first degrees, diplomas and post graduate diplomas. On the other
hand, more males are likely to complete PH.Ds. Up until 2006, more male students completed Masters
degrees than female students, but in 2007 this changed.
More male students are concentrated in FMEE, ICT and Architecture, with five times as many male
students in the former two, and twice as many in the latter. Male students are also more concentrated
in Sciences yet the difference is not as great.
Female students are more concentrated in IHC, Medicine, Education, Communication, Law and Arts.
The following are tables and graphs by Degree, Faculty, Institute and Centre, showing the number of
graduates, per year, by gender.
