Best Scientific Paper - European Congress of Radiology, March 2012
Mr Frank Zarb, Assistant Lecturer, Radiography
Department, Faculty of Health Sciences, was awarded the
best scientific paper presentation within the Radiographers
category at the recent European Congress of Radiology held
in Vienna, Austria. The European Congress of Radiology
(ECR), the largest radiological gathering in Europe with over
20,000 participants from 102 countries is organized by the
European Society of Radiology (ESR).

Mr Frank Zarb`s presentation and research “A novel optimisation strategy in CT results in
significant dose reductions” was selected by the subcommittee chairman, based on the
evaluation of the subcommittee members, session moderators and session participants. Mr
Zarb`s research has focused upon the important matter of radiation dose optimisation in CT and
was supervised by Dr Louise Rainford and Mr Shane Foley, from University College Dublin
and Dr Mark Mc Entee, from the University of Sydney.
This achievement was also reported on the web site of University College, Dublin.
