On-Campus Recruiting Guide for Students
How to Find On-Campus Recruitment (OCR) Jobs or Internships of Interest:
•
Have an updated resume uploaded to your Kogod CareerSource or AU CareerWeb student account in
order to apply for jobs and interviews. Many positions will require cover letters and writing samples as
well.
•
After you upload your resume, you must actively apply for jobs or internships to be considered.
•
Click on the ‘Jobs and Internships’ tab from your homepage. Next to ‘Show Me’, select ‘All Interviews’ to
see opportunities that will hold interviews on campus.
•
Narrow your job search by specifying ‘Position Type’ (internship, full-time, part-time, etc.) and ‘Major’ to
find opportunities of interest and that you qualify for.
•
Select the position you are interested in and review the job description and required documents. You can
only apply to positions for which you are qualified. If you are not qualified, you will see an explanation of
which criteria you do not match.
•
Be sure to make note of the application deadline to submit your documents as you will not be able to
apply after that date.
How to Upload Documents (Resume, Cover Letter, Writing Sample, etc.) to your Kogod
CareerSource or AU CareerWeb Profile
•
Click on the ‘Documents’ tab from your homepage. On the lower left side of the page, click on ‘Add New’
to upload a document.
•
Properly select the type of document you are uploading (that is, uploading a Cover Letter as a Resume will
not work when applying for jobs.)
•
Once you have ‘Labeled’ and selected the appropriate ‘Document Type’, click ‘Browse’ and select a
document to upload from your computer.
•
Click ‘Submit’ and your item will upload to your account. This may take several minutes, but the status will
read ‘Ready’ once it has been successfully uploaded.
•
All documents will convert to a PDF file once uploaded. Be sure you double-check the PDF version of your
resume to make sure it appears correctly after being converted as employers will receive the PDF version.
If your resume extends to 2 pages, you may have to re-space it and then reconvert to a PDF to make sure it
shows up on a single page.
How to Submit Requested Documents to be Considered for an On-Campus Interview:
•
Click on the ‘Jobs and Internships’ tab from your homepage. Next to ‘Show Me’, select ‘All Interviews’ to
see opportunities that will hold interviews on campus.
•
Click on the job title of interest. Do you qualify? Look at the right hand side to confirm.
•
If you qualify for an interview, you can submit your documents by clicking ‘Apply’. If you do not qualify for
an interview and you disagree, double-check your profile by clicking the ‘Profile’ tab to ensure it is
accurate and up-to-date. Review your GPA, graduation date, and major. Contact your academic advisor if
your academic information is incorrect.
•
Check the status of your application in the ‘Pending Campus Interviews’ link under the shortcuts section on
the right side of the homepage.
How to Sign Up for an Interview:
•
Once you have applied for an OCR position, your interview request will be pending review by the
employer. You can review the status of the position by clicking on the ‘Pending Campus Interviews’ link on
the homepage. Once the employer reviews your application materials, they may invite you to schedule an
interview.
•
If an employer selects you for an interview, or as an alternate, this homepage button will change to read
"Schedule Interview" and will provide access to the interview scheduling tool.
•
Once the employer opens the interview selection timeframe and you are selected to interview, or as an
alternate, click the ‘Sign Up For Interview’ link on the homepage. Select the date and time that you are
able to interview with the employer.
Find More Information about Employers:
•
Click the ‘Employers’ tab on the homepage. Browse employers by industry and location or enter a specific
employer name in the keyword box.
•
Click on the various tabs in the employer section to learn about the company Overview, Culture, and
Available Positions.
•
Also, be sure to also check out the employer’s official website in the About Us or Careers sections.
