The Sign Language Interpreting program at Fresno State will be holding our sixth
annual “2BU” challenge on November 1st intertwined with the Two Cities
Marathon. What is 2BU? It is a scholarship fund for sign language interpreting
students, which was established to empower students, create invaluable
opportunities, and help interpreters to reach their full potential. The 2BU
challenge goal is to raise Deaf awareness and scholarship funds for sign language
interpreters, who often act as a bridge between Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard of
Hearing individuals with the hearing world.
What does 2BU mean? What does it mean 2BU (TO BE YOU)?? Sign language
interpreters often act as a bridge between the Deaf and hearing worlds for
individuals who do not know American Sign Language. 2BU emphasizes the
importance of closing the communication gap that frequently separates the Deaf
and Hearing worlds. It represents the path of hearing and Deaf people alike who
want to communicate in ASL effectively and work together to achieve one goal.
Through the use of sign language interpreters these interactions can take place.
We ask you to please join us as we raise awareness through your generous
donations, sponsorships and support for our future interpreters at Fresno State.
Your charitable donations will help to provide more opportunities for Interpreters
to experience hands-on- training within the Deaf Community as well as offer
opportunities for students to obtain scholarship funds within this program. Any
and all donations or sponsorships are greatly appreciated and tax deductible gifts.

more will be listed on our website as Supporters of 2BU.
