Tim Donnelly Announces He’s Running for
California Governor
Candidate for Governor Makes Campaign Stop
in Bakersfield
On Wednesday, Tim Donnelly will stop in the Central Valley to announce it’s official: He will
run for Governor of California.
The stop comes amid a Statewide tour from Southern California to Northern California,
where Donnelly is making stops in Los Angeles, the Central Valley, and Sacramento later
this week. The campaign will be making visits to more cities throughout the State in the
coming weeks.
But this isn’t the first time Donnelly has visited here. He has been here more than a dozen
times over the past year, talking with voters about water issues, agriculture and rampant
unemployment in the Central Valley.
Donnelly – a State Assemblymember who has led on populist issues and who had up until
Tuesday only opened an “exploratory committee” – is citing three key issues in his decision
to run for Governor: Jobs, Civil Liberties, and leaving California a better place for the next
Generation.
“I have traveled to the Central Valley more than a dozen times this past year,” said
Donnelly. “California has a jobs crisis but it’s even worse here in the Central Valley, and the
politicians in Sacramento are completely out of touch with constituents here. The Governor
and the Democrat majority legislature have done very little to help the Central Valley. It’s
time for a change. It’s time for a new vision. We must help the hard-working people who
serve as the breadbasket to the world, so that the family farms throughout this region can
sustain their small businesses and leave their farms to the next generation of Californians.”
