Applicant ranking
 Each year approximately 108 new students are admitted to the DVM degree program. About half of these students are from
Kansas and the other half are from throughout the United States and other countries. Because there are more qualified
applicants than space permits each year, applicants are ranked based on composite GRE scores, science grade point
averages, and other criteria including animal experience, veterinary experience, letters of reference, interviews with the
CVM Admissions Committee, etc. The average GRE scores are usually about as follows: verbal = 550, quantitative = 550,
and analytical writing is usually 4.0 or above.

Applicants completing all of our prerequisites for our DVM degree program at Kansas State University are not required to
submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores. The academic rankings of these applicants are based on the GPAs of
the prerequisite science courses for the DVM degree program.

Applicants not completing all of our prerequisites at Kansas State University are required to submit scores for the general
GRE. Both the scores for the general GRE and the prerequisite science GPA are used in evaluating the academic ranking of
these applicants. The average science GPA (science prerequisite courses only) is usually about 3.4.

Qualified applicants are those applicants who have at least a 2.8 on their last 45 hours of undergraduate course work, at least
2.8 on prerequisites, and can finish prerequisites by the end of the spring semester prior to the fall during which they wish to
begin veterinary college.
