Executive Director ,R&D MEDIA ,Switzerland Tel/fax : + 41-22-7382545 E- mail : roxana.dunnette@ties.itu.int Roxana Dunnette, Executive Director, R&D MEDIA , Switzerland , has had an extensive career in Broadcasting and media including senior management positions at Worldspace ,USA , CBS and PBS in New York covering primetime sports and news events, and international telecommunication activities through work at the United Nations in New York and the International Telecommunication Union as US government representative. Ms. Dunnette also directed multimedia and distant learning projects at the University of Geneva, designed an automated English-language radio station in Geneva WRG, worked on a handbook for the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) – “Broadcasting over the Internet” – has published numerous articles, conference papers and is invited as speaker to various events. She obtained key operational licenses for Worldspace Corporation ,including terrestrial European licenses, secured commercial contracts , and accomplished many projects on development grounded on sustainability and focused on solving the underlying problems .They were very innovative and had a great impact in the respective region . To name some : design and implementation of Mobile and Fixed Telekiosks in rural areas in Africa, telecenters based on the latest telecom and broadcasting architectures, projects in distant learning, telemedicine and disaster relief, satellite applications while working closely with the governments of Mali, Senegal, Ghana, Qatar ,Indonesia and UN agencies in Sierra Leone ,Tanzania . Ms. Dunnette represents WorldSpace interests with the ITU-Radio Communication Bureau and Bureau for Telecommunications Development, WRC , international organizations, regulatory conferences and international trade fairs. She is actively involved in the World Summit on Information Society, WGET , Disaster-relief Radio Communications BSS studies and “ Connect the World initiative “ ,and is a spokesperson at prestigious events . Recently she finished projects” Internet for the blind “ in three countries . She is a member of the Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC), SMPTE and the International Union of Electronic Press. She received an Engineering Degree in Automation from the Polytechnic Institute in Bucharest and a Masters Degree in Communications and International Broadcasting from City University of New York.
