ROSES-15 Amendment 2: Release of a new program element: The Mars Science Laboratory Participating Scientist Program This solicitation is for Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) Participating Scientist (PS) investigations to enhance the scientific return from the mission by broadening participation in the mission to include new investigations that broaden and/or complement the funded Principal Investigator (PI)-led instrument investigations, thus maximizing the contribution of MSL to the future exploration and scientific understanding of Mars. Participating Scientist proposals may include investigations that are instrument specific or multiinstrument in nature and, in all cases, must include both science analysis and an operational component (commitment to participate in daily operations) in order to be considered. Because the intention is to enhance and broaden the scientific return, investigations submitted by MSL Instrument PIs and Instrument CoInvestigators (Co-Is) will not be considered. Existing Participating Scientists and their PS investigation team members, if they are interested in continuing as Participating Scientists, must propose and successfully recompete. Mandatory Step-1 proposals are due by May 6, 2015, and full Step-2 proposals are due by June 3, 2015. On or about March 4, 2015, this Amendment to the NASA Research Announcement "Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2015" (NNH15ZDA001N) will be posted on the NASA research opportunity homepage at http://nspires.nasaprs.com/ and will appear on the RSS feed at: http://science.nasa.gov/researchers/sara/grant-solicitations/roses-2015/ Questions concerning this program element may be directed to: Michael A.
