American Diabetes Association Core Research Program 2015 Call for Applications - Now Open! The 2015 Core Research Program Call for Applications has opened. Applications are due April 15, 2015 for anticipated funding to start April 1, 2016. There are a number of important policy changes and program updates for 2015. Grant Cycle Schedule: The Association has moved to a single funding cycle per calendar year for the Core Research Program. The current application cycle (deadline of April 15, 2015) will be the only call for applications in 2015. New Grant Mechanisms: Following a strategic review of the Association's research portfolio, the Core Research program grant mechanisms have been streamlined and significantly revised for the 2015 call for applications. These changes were made to improve efficiency and better reflect the strategic goals of the organization. 2015 CORE RESEARCH PROGRAM FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES Award Type Maximum Funding Amount Innovative Basic Science Awards $115,000/year for up to 3 years Innovative Clinical/Translational Science Awards $200,000/year for up to 3 years Junior Faculty Development Awards $138,000/year for up to 4 years Plus up to $10,000/year student loan repayment for doctoral degree Postdoctoral Fellowship Awards 42,000-$55,272/year for up to 3 years Plus yearly $5,000 training & $5,000 fringe benefit allowances Minority* Postdoctoral Fellowship Awards $42,000-$55,272/year for up to 3 years Plus yearly $5,000 training & $5,000 fringe benefit allowances Minority* Undergraduate Internship Awards $3,000 one-time stipend available for training in the laboratory of current Association-funded investigators *Eligible minorities are defined as the minority groups that are underrepresented in the area of biomedical and behavioral research: African American or Black, Hispanic/Spanish/Latino, American Indian/Alaskan Native, or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander.
