DQE Workshop/Exam
Departmental Qualification Exam
(web-enhanced)
Two Sessions—Spring 2016
T
he Departmental Qualification Exam (DQE) is a language assessment tool used by the Department of
Mass Communication and Journalism. It covers areas such as spelling, punctuation, plurals and possessives, confusing words, agreement, and pronoun case.
The DQE can provide a useful evaluation of anyone’s language skills. However, successful completion is
required of students before they can enroll in MCJ Department skills courses. A three-hour workshop
reviewing DQE topics is offered on the first weekend. The exam is administered on the second weekend.
A photo ID is required.
Note: Passing the DQE is a prerequisite for seven MCJ skills courses, including MCJ 10 & MCJ 102W.
For further information, contact instructor Faith Sidlow at fmsidlow@csufresno.edu.
