Meeting called to order: 2:05 p.m.
I.
Membership
a. Update on appointments letters – all appointment letters have been mailed to the new proposed
members.
II.
Institutional Report Submission Requirements (last updated 8/28/12)

Reviewed the institutional submission report document posted on the WASC website. The committee
realized that this is an outdated document since it does not reflect the new re-design.
III.
Preparation of Response to Last Commission Action Letter dated March 2, 2005
a. The 1993 team noted the following areas for institutional attention and improvement (see attached
letter)
i. Address University Aspirations within the Higher Education Community
ii. Developing an Academic Plan
iii. Expectations for Faculty
iv. Strengthening General Education and University-wide Assessment
Brief discussion on the action letter dated March 2, 2005. The committee discussed that a few of this
items have already been completed, i.e. the Academic Plan. They also agreed that the executive
committee would be the group to draft response on behalf of the President in regards to these items.
IV.
Upcoming Workshops
There are several WASC workshops coming up and it was agreed to nominate the members listed below
to represent Fresno State at the workshops listed below:
a. Jan. 23 – 26 ~ AACU Quality of the US Degrees – A. Lawson, D. Nef and J. Prince
b. Jan 30 ~ WASC Assessment 101 – X. Fu
c. Jan 31 – Feb. 1 ~ WASC Retreat on Student Success – A. Lawson and A. Nambiar
d. Feb. 14 – 15 ~ WASC Retreat of Assessment of Learning at San Jose, CA – S. Moore and M.
Ram
e. April 9 – 12 ~ WASC Academic Resource Conference at San Diego, CA – B. Berrett, A. Lawson
V.
Subcommittees
The group discussed how to guide the subcommittee work. Member J. Prince suggested that the
subcommittees met to discuss their charge and to submit it back to the executive committee for review.
At the next committee the subcommittees are to report on: a point person, scope of work/plans for
university wide report input and a timeline.

a. Meaning, Quality, and Integrity of the Degree Subcommittee
i. Members: Andrew Lawson, Michelle DenBeste, Scott Moore, Dennis Nef, Jim Prince,
and David Schecter
b. Core Competency Subcommittee
i. Asao Inoue, Xuanning Fu, Lynnette Zelezny and Melanie Ram
c. Website Subcommittee
i. Jim Marshall, Arun Nambiar, Shirley Armbruster, Philip Neufield, Bryan Berrett, and
Laura Alcantar
