Using Explore Explore is a one-stop service for the discovery and delivery of printed and electronic resources. You can search for material within a single resource or across a range of resources simultaneously. This guide explains how to: • • • • • Search for books and journals in the ICH Library and other UCL libraries Link to online and print journals through the library catalogue Search for a database Place interlibrary loans and store requests Reserve books that are on loan There is a link to Explore on the ICH Library homepage http://www.ucl.ac.uk/ich/support-services/library/ Finding a specific book If you are looking for a specific book, select Library catalogue from the drop-down menu beneath the search box. Type the author’s surname and a word from the title into the search box. For example, to find the book Theories of attachment: an introduction to Bowlby, Ainsworth, Gerber, Brezelton, Kennell and Klaus by Carol Mooney: Click on the Search button, or press the return key. Any item that matches your search terms will appear in a list. To find the location of the item click on the Locations tab under the title. The drop down box will give you the location, classmark, loan type, due date and request options (only books that are out on loan can be requested). You will find the book on the shelves of the Child Health library noting down the classmark, e.g. WS 105 MOO: Standard loans can be borrowed for 8 weeks. One week loans can be borrowed for 1 week.
