ITU-T SG16 would like to thank the JCA on Plenipotentiary Resolution 178 for the liaison
statement on the request for further input (your JCA-Res178-LS8, our TD 265/Gen), and specific
questions in JCA-Res178-LS5 (our TD 252/Gen-16) and JCA-Res178-LS7 (our TD 253/Gen-16).
We carried out careful investigation by requesting and collecting feedbacks from the rapporteurs of
relevant Questions. You can find hereunder SG16's reply on your requests.
1.
The work that ITU-T SG16 is undertaking with regard to the IMS.
ITU-T SG16 Reply: SG has so far not undertaken work related to IMS and associated text
messaging. Q21/16, as a generic Question to deal with multimedia services and applications,
has some interest in this aspect. Thus, Q21/16 is open to new opportunities to standardize
multimedia services and applications based on IMS and for global messaging.
2.
Obtain the views of ITU-T SG16 as to how there is differentiation between private IP
networks and the Internet and how such differentiation is reflected in the
Recommendations.
ITU-T SG16 Reply: SG16 Recommendations do not make distinction between enterprise
networks and public internet networks.
3.
Provision of information on the use of the Internet to facilitate global communication
and messaging services (including MMS), based on global service codes.
ITU-T SG16 Reply: This does not apply to SG16.
-3JCA-Res178 – Doc – 021 – E
4.
The relevant collaboration activities that you have established between ITU-T SG2 and
ITU-T SG3, and in particular on WTSA-12 Resolutions 29 and 64.
ITU-T SG16 Reply: Other than coordination with ITU-T Q4/2 on human factors related
issues for improvement of the quality of life through international telecommunications,
currently there are no collaboration activities with SG2 and SG3.
ITU-T SG16 will keep JCA on PP-10 informed of our future activities in this area, if any.
