Future work
The following are the suggested areas of future work for the MI team.
Past experience suggest that the work load is containable within the resource available to the MI
team. The Service Board is asked to reflect on whether these represent the appropriate areas for
future work

This is a proposed development from MI&P which will build and
extend the existing data set used in the production of academic
statistics. This will revise the way in which data is presented to
users and provide self service capabilities.
The data contained within the package will include

Student characteristics (academic performance, student
experience [NSS, student barometers], progression,

The reporting work will be undertaken by MI&P, the data
extraction, modelling and loading will be undertaken by ITS.
A new Information set which will include the trading data of the
Commercial group’s food and retail outlets around campus, the
eating at Warwick scheme and the demographics of the
customer using the commercials services.
This is may prove to be a substantial on-going area of work, if it
expands to include other areas of the commercial group such as
conferences.
The PG application team in SARO organised a conference of Post
Graduate course selectors in December 2012. The conference
included a session on the current application reports and sought
feedback from course selectors on it’s current usefulness.
A number of enhancements were suggested to the reporting to
make them more relevant to departments, these included
incorporating part time courses, both UG and CPD, into the
reports and a set of reports which focused on the demographics
of applicants to complement the current reports which focus on
application status, offers made etc.
During the summer the Cognos application software will be
upgraded to 10.2
This release includes significant improvement to cube based
reporting, deployment of reports to Apple mobile devices,
integration with SharePoint, general report development

particular report prompt pages and native integration with the
SAP suite of applications.
