Curriculum for Excellence
• SHARE meets the requirements for a comprehensive
sex and relationships education programme as outlined
in Respect and Responsibility (the national strategy for
sexual health) and in Curriculum for Excellence.
• The SHARE course addresses the Relationships, Sexual
Health and Parenthood experiences and outcomes
within the Health and Wellbeing organiser of
Curriculum for Excellence, and a number of others
including Mental, Emotional , Social and Physical
Health.
Benefits of Partnership Working
• Young people’s learning in Sexual Health and Relationships
Education benefits from partnership working with parents,
carers, school staff, community staff and wider agencies.
• The involvement of community partners, through their
individual expertise and knowledge, engages pupils, enriches
learning experiences and provides a consistent message.
• Effective partnership working ensures that all agencies come
together in order to support our young people and their
families.
SHARE in East Ayrshire

What happened next?
• Participants at SHARE training rolled out the
training to their colleagues.
• Guidance staff in eight secondary schools are
now planning with their partners, which sessions
will be delivered, when and by whom.
• This will ensure consistency of message and true
partnership working.
• SHARE training is planned again for May 2011.
• It is anticipated that refresher courses will be
offered by NHS Ayrshire and Arran in the coming
year to update colleagues.
