June 2014 Construction Standard Details
The purpose of this Engineering Directive is to formally issue the June 2014 online edition of the
MassDOT Highway Division Construction Standard Details for use on MassDOT Highway
Division projects.
The June 2014 Construction Standard Details supersedes and replaces the March 2012
Construction Standard Details previously issued under Engineering Directive E-12-006.
The June 2014 Construction Standard Details shall be referenced in the plans and other contract
documents of all MassDOT Highway Division projects advertised after July 31, 2014.
The June 2014 version of the Construction Standard Details is not significantly different than the
March 2012 version of the same document. Most of the changes involve adjustments to labels
for better clarity and consistency, and the removal of redundant references to material
specifications that are better contained solely in the contract specifications for each item.
In continuance of the procedure established in 2012, the June 2014 Construction Standard
Details is available in electronic format (PDF) on MassDOT’s public website and on
MassDOT’s internal TransNET. MassDOT will not print and distribute hard copies of the June
2014 Construction Standard Details. MassDOT will handle future updates to the Construction
Standard Details in the same manner as this update by posting complete, current, online PDF
versions of the document for use until further notice. MassDOT will also post superseded PDF
versions of the Construction Standard Details online for public reference. The Highway Design
Engineer will retain printed copies of each superseded version of the document for archiving
purposes.
