FALL 2016 - UPDATED 5/16/2016 Connecting Across Topics (CAT) Communities are designed around student interests, and they offer mentoring from both a professor and an advanced undergraduate Learning Assistant who has been successful in the same classes. K-State First offers three types of CAT Communities: Residential (where students live in the same hall as their peers), Non-Residential, and Study Abroad. Some CAT Communities have an expanded focus on college student success skills (time management, study skills, etc), which is indicated by a checkmark on the sheet. Enrollment. To sign up, e-mail us at kstatefirst@k-state.edu or call us at 532-7803 (during June O&E only) or at 532-1501 (our main office telephone) or at (785) 320-1221 (anytime). Students may only sign up for one CAT community, and they should not sign up if they already have college credit for one or both of the main classes in the CAT community. Space is limited. Each learning community has only 22 seats.
