Author’s note
The course was written for 13 Resource Location pupils and three profoundly
hearing-impaired pupils. We were fortunate to have a high pupil-teacher ratio –
this also undoubtedly helped. At the end of the course, the pupils were asked
their opinion of the course as a whole. Most of them enjoyed the lab work and
the written work and thought that the worksheets helped them. The latter are
in colour, some of the text is coloured for emphasis, and the illustrations are
also coloured to make them more appealing.
A lot of time and effort went into making sure that the worksheets were
designed to steer the pupils towards achieving the desired outcomes. We hope
that you may find them useful for your pupils too. It would be helpful if you
acquainted yourself with the sheets before using them with your class to
familiarise yourself with equipment and materials needed, as well as teaching
points.
The topics covered are:


