BACKGROUND:
As of August 2011, the District rents approximately a portion of the 350 Building (Rooms 351, 353, 354,
357, 358, 359, and 360) and 15 designated parking spaces to the Santa Cruz County Office of Education’s
OASIS Academy School of Independent Studies Program. “OASIS” stands for “Online Academy Site
Independent Studies.” The OASIS program is designed to meet the needs of students in grades 9-12 who
are self-directed and benefit from an Independent Studies format. The OASIS model implements an
instructional strategy that responds to the needs and unique styles of students, allowing students to learn at
their own pace via web-based classes, tutoring sessions, and one-on-one meetings with OASIS teachers.
The leased space is 2947 square feet @$4093/per month, or $1.39 per square foot, including utilities. Staff
recommends a one year lease renewal with the OASIS program.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$49,116 in gross revenue for 2013-14.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Governing Board authorize the Vice President,
Administrative Services to renew a one year lease with the Santa Cruz County Office of Education OASIS
Program.
