S4C Activity Report
Provided by Ray Kaupp, Executive Director

Convened math and English collaboratives on 3/13 with 65 participants. Interest was
expressed in working on (1) strategies for 12th grade course offerings, based on 11th
grade EAP results; (2) development of a "jump-start to college" program to tailor
some Cabrillo classes to high school seniors' needs; and (3) alignment of common
core with SSTF recommendations.

Ray Kaupp attended an AB790 Linked Learning Pilot winners meeting at the
Educating for Careers conference. Funding decision from the California Department
of Education is expected in May.

Community outreach continues to be emphasized with presentations to the Live Oak
and Soquel Union school boards, and the Santa Cruz County Human Services
Commission.

Through invited participation in the SVUSD strategic planning process, "career and
college readiness" is now included in the district strategic plan as an outcome for
several of their goals going forward.
