BACKGROUND:
Cabrillo College has been awarded a sub-grant of $31,000 from the Foundation for California Community
Colleges/Learning Works to coordinate and lead The Math Adjuncts Resource Collaboratory (MARC). This
grant will focus on the design phase of MARC, whose goal is to develop and disseminate a model to offer
adjunct faculty opportunities for both an increase in collegial communication and an increase in access to
professional development. This phase of the project will develop resources and processes, including a collection
of ready-to-adapt exemplary practices and a supporting network of practice. The project will be led by Cabrillo’s
Math Department Program Chair, and will engage mathematics department chairs as sponsors of the initiative,
through the Bay Area Colleges Math Leadership Forum, in which Cabrillo has participated since 2010. The
sub-grant award period is December 1, 2012 through December 15, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
An increase in the amount of $31,000 in revenue and expenditures.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Governing Board accept the $31,000 sub-grant award from the Foundation for
California Community Colleges/Learning Works. It is further recommended that the Board authorize the
Vice President, Administrative Services to execute and make all necessary arrangements in relation to this
agreement on behalf of the college.
