Students complete math and reading/writing assessments when they are admitted. A few of our students each year need to take developmental courses in math (e.g., Pre-Algebra) and writing based on the results of their assessments. Specific programs in our College have math prerequisites and not all students who apply to those programs are admitted. Bill William M. London, Ed.D., M.P.H. However, if I understand your question correctly I would have to say that our university does not have a minimum math requirement for students who are planning to attend our institution. If the student has less than 32 units prior to admission then they will would be matriculated as an incoming freshmen (needing docs such as H.S. transcripts, SAT 1 or ACT scores, and letters of recommendations). A: Colleges throughout California expect students to have mastered the equivalent of intermediate college algebra with at least a “C” grade. USC is no exception. Students who did not complete advanced algebra in high school should plan to take intermediate algebra or higher at the college level. Many USC degree programs have more demanding math requirements; refer to the USC Catalogue for more information. 2-07
