Jose Olvera
My name is José Armando Olvera and I am a mechanical
engineer student currently in my 3rd and final year at
Cabrillo College. This semester I got a job as a MESA tutor
and have joined the Abroad club as the Scholarship
Chairman. My goal is to transfer to Santa Clara University.
I have loved the idea of becoming an engineer for years.
Taking a trip to Plantronics, I was amazed by the designing
process and production making of products that we tend
to take for granted. I hope to follow in my father’s
footsteps and give back to the people who have supported
me and helped me on my journey to stepping foot on that
stage and being able to hold that engineering diploma high
and proud. When I’m not busy studying or working as a
tutor or as a candy seller at Marini’s at the Beach, I try to
keep myself occupied with friends and family. I love many
different kinds of sports, particularly soccer, basketball,
and volleyball. I am a Manchester United faithful.
Isabel Corpus
Teralyn Crill
My name is Isabel Corpus and I am an Electrical
Engineering student at Cabrillo College. I love engineering
because you can see the designs in your mind come to life
by applying your knowledge. I am not a conventional
engineering student considering that I am a very creative
individual, in fact conceptual theories are my favorite
matters to contemplate. I hope to one day give back as a
professional electrical engineer through experiences
similar to the Engineering Abroad Program. I am currently
a full time student, President of the Engineering Abroad
Club, and work as a teaching assistant for the Engineering
5 course offered at Cabrillo College. My hobbies include
soldering projects, event planning, meditating, painting,
dancing, and reading.
I am Teralyn Crill, an Engineering student at Cabrillo
College. When I first came to Cabrillo, I did not meet with a
guidance councilor, which ended up being a mistake. I had
no idea what engineering was, but because I had a knack
for math and science, I ended up spending my first two
years studying a mixture of math, digital media, chemistry,
and horticulture. It wasn’t until my third year of college
that I caught the eye of the Engineering Department Chair
after my name appeared in the newspaper for a
horticulture achievement. She encouraged me to take
Engineering 5, and I’ve never looked back. My favorite
subject is physics, but I want to apply my knowledge to
engineering, which will allow me to make a positive impact
on the world outside of research and discovery. Right now
I am majoring in Materials Engineering, and I am only one
year away from transferring to San Jose State University.
This will be my first excursion outside of the US, and I
could not ask for better company or a better cause.

Daniel DeLeon
As a student who's having trouble deciding his course of
study, either civil or mechanical engineering, being a part
of this project is an amazing opportunity that will help
guide me in making this important decision. Other than
living in Guadalajara, MX for a couple years, I have lived in

time semester at Cabrillo, but I have attended math
courses here during high school for two years. I plan to
graduate from Cabrillo with an A.S. in Engineering in 2 ½ 3 years. After graduation I will take a gap year to go on
missions then Lord willing transfer to Cal Poly San Luis
Obispo. I have a passion for serving God by serving people,
and the Engineering Abroad Program is a perfect example
of what I want to do after I earn my degree. The need for
purified water, sanitation, disaster proof housing,
nourishment, and sustainability is present across the globe
and I want to help. My favorite places to be are anywhere
around family, church, and in foreign countries. Things I
like to do are play/create music, build things, and be
