Members were welcomed by the Chair. Guest Austin Yungmeyer introduced 1. Welcome himself as a current Student Senator at Large. It was suggested periods be removed from “S.L.O.” in the draft November 2. Approval of Minutes minutes. With that change, minutes were unanimously approved. It was noted that agenda item numbers be corrected. With that change, the 3. Approval of Agenda draft meeting agenda was unanimously approved. Meeting dates for spring, 2015 I.E. meetings were discussed. The consensus was 4. Spring Meeting Dates to meet the second Thursday of each month, from February through/including May, 2015, from 9:00‐10:30am. The Exec. Asst. to the V.P. of Instruction agreed to check on room availability and secure reservations. The SLO Coordinator gave an update on the November Napa webinar. Napa will 5. Accreditation Standards Update make their materials available, and will not be disaggregating data. Napa’s best practices will be studied in fall, 2015. It was suggested a fresh approach for Cabrillo would be to select a very few overarching themes to guide the next report. Cabrillo’s midterm report preparation will begin in spring, 2015 and is due October, 2016. The Cabrillo President asked PRO to design a participatory governance survey. 6. Participatory Governance Survey I.E. Chair showed various governance structure diagrams and survey instruments. The SLO Coordinator noted ARC should be added to the diagram, and surveyed committees should be asked to evaluate their charge. There was consensus to ask facilitators to provide available effectiveness measures such as committee reports and metrics. I.E. will provide sample metrics. Discussion followed on ways to improve the participatory governance diagrams. Group consensus was to simplify it, adding links to further detail. The Lead Library/LRC Specialist agreed to help evaluate/update the charts with the former CCEU rep. who drafted one of the charts, Eireann Del Bonta. The Chair noted that campus‐wide communication is a challenge, as is encouraging broader staff/faculty participation on committees. The group discussed means of improving campus‐
wide communication as well as the effectiveness and efficiency of meetings. It was agreed that these goals would be incorporated into the design of survey instrument as well as how they are introduced to staff and faculty. 7. Summarize Action Items/Agenda Building The following agenda items were discussed for the February 2015 meeting: Institution Set Standards; Participatory Governance Survey; Resource Request Form; Updates on Classified Prioritization, Student Equity Plan and ARC.
