Monitoring and tracking overview- professional learning activities
Below you will find a few suggestions for professional learning activities that can be used along with the
Monitoring and Tracking Overview document to review and develop monitoring and tracking across the
school. You may wish to consider displaying the overview on a staffroom wall and adding information and
evidence to it over time.

3.3.5 Middle leaders systematically gather and use assessment feedback and learners’ progress
data to evaluate and plan future learning
Activity 1
Remove some or all the text from the Responsibility and actions (p3-5) column. Ask staff to replace the text with their
own version.
Activity 2
Add further sections to the Responsibility and actions (p3-5) column. You may want to consider adding, for example,
children, parents etc.
Activity 3
Add to or replace the text in the What is the expected impact? column. You may want to ask staff to respond to a more
focused question, for example, How does the activity/process improve outcomes for the children?
Activity 4
Complete the Evidence column. You may wish to consider doing this in short chunks, for example, ten minutes at the
start of a number of staff meetings rather than as one longer activity.
