EPA is also interested in research that will help communities anticipate, plan and adapt to these new climate scenarios in the future. Many factors influence water demand and availability such as population growth, changes in land use practices, and high water demands from different sectors. Nationally, as weather patterns change (drought, flash floods, wildfires, etc), climate will increasingly play a major role in determining water quality and availability. This research will investigate the direct impact of climate change on water scarcity and drought, and how it affects the quality and availability of our water resources. In the Foundation’s words: Architecture and related spatial practices engage a wide range of cultural, social, political, technological, environmental, and aesthetic issues. They are interested in projects that investigate the contemporary condition, expand historical perspectives, or explore the future of architecture and the designed environment. They support innovative, thought-provoking investigations in architecture; architectural history, theory, and criticism; design; engineering; landscape architecture; urban planning; urban studies; visual arts; and related fields of inquiry. Their interest A weekly publication of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. The ultimate goal of the project should be a major piece of scholarly work by the applicant. ACLS does not fund creative work (e.g., novels or films), textbooks, straightforward translation, or pedagogical projects. The ACLS Fellowships are intended as salary replacement to help scholars devote six to twelve continuous months to full-time research and writing. The subject of this solicitation is PFI: AIR-Technology Translation (PFI: AIR-TT). The PFI: AIR-TT solicitation program serves as an early opportunity to move previously NSF-funded research results with promising commercial potential along the path toward commercialization. Projects are supported to demonstrate proof-of-concept, prototype, or scale-up while engaging faculty and students in entrepreneurial/innovative thinking. The program is inherently interdisciplinary and multi-methodological. Successful proposals describe research that advances scientific theory and understanding of the connections between law or legal processes and human behavior. Social scientific studies of law often approach law as dynamic, made in multiple arenas, with the participation of multiple actors. Fields of study include many disciplines, and often 24-13 Geography and Spatial Sciences Program (GSS) (NSF) The goals of the NSF Geography and Spatial Sciences (GSS) Program are: To promote scientific research in geography and the spatial sciences that advances theory and basic understanding and that addresses the challenges facing society; to promote the integration of geographers and spatial scientists in interdisciplinary research; to promote education and training of geographers and spatial scientists in order to enhance the capabilities of current and future generations of researchers; and to promote the development and use of scientific methods and tools for geographic research. The Geography and Spatial Sciences Program sponsors research on the geographic distributions and interactions of human, physical, and biotic systems on Earth. Investigators are encouraged to propose plans for research about the nature, causes, and consequences of human activity and natural environmental processes across a range of scales. Projects on a variety of topics qualify for support if they offer promise of contributing to scholarship by enhancing geographical knowledge, concepts, theories, methods, and their application to societal problems and concerns.
