A Course Organizer’s Report (quality of student work, pace and content, appropriateness of teaching methods and effects of any action(s)
taken to resolve past problems)
The quality of student work was generally as expected, although we always hope that a larger portion of students will
achieve marks higher than 60. Students were very pleased with the quality of teaching, our enhanced use of Moodle, and
our new use of Lecturecast.
B Any Learning Resources problems (e.g quality of lecture or tutorial rooms)
None.
C Issues Identified by Students (from questionnaires, staff-student committee etc.) and Action Taken or Planned
The comments from students were generally very positive, although the response rate (37%) was disappointing. Some
concerns related to the difficult transition from school to university, with increased work loads and independent study, and
others related to the perennial problem of the need to deal with a large volume of complex material with only a small
number of contact hours available. For 2014-15, the order of lectures has been amended in response to student
comments with land registration moved to the first term. Students were very pleased with our use of Lecturecast and we
will continue to use it if it is available.
D Issues Identified by Visiting Examiners and Action Taken or Planned
None.
