The event will provide an opportunity to explore the Baskin Center and participate in a dozen hands-on experiments and displays for all ages, that feature Cabrillo’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs. During the Science Expo, participants of all ages will be able to: • Examine minerals, rocks, and fossils from the Cabrillo Geology Program’s world class collection and hold a 15 pound meteorite that is 4.6 billion years old • Learn about mobile phone games and programming • See and learn about sustainable food production • Sample ice cream made using liquid nitrogen • Create engineering designs of their own Hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be provided to guests and during the event, attendees can participate in a raffle for an Apple® iPad Mini™. The Peggy and Jack Baskin Foundation donated nearly $900,000 to support the renovation and preservation of the Baskin Center, which features an expanded and improved facility, as well as targeted program support for Cabrillo’s STEM students.
