October 2008 http://www.dof.ca.gov/HTML/DEMOGRAP/ReportsPapers/Projections/Enrollment/K1205/K12EnrlmntPrjctns2008.php The DOF's projection methods changed in 2006 & 2007 resulting in fairly large changes from previous years' estimates of high school graduates. Projections of HS Grads Enrolled at Cabrillo were based on the strong relationship (R2 =0.72) observed between HS graduates and HS graduate enrollment at Cabrillo from 93-94 to 06-07 by using the formula: HS Grads Enrolling at Cabrillo = 0.332 x (HS graduates) + 173.1 CABRILLO COLLEGE - 4- FACT BOOK 2008 Cabrillo Enrollment Projections STUDENT ENROLLMENT Actual Headcount Lower Bound Projected Headount Upper Bound 24000 22000 20000 18000 16000 14000 Year 1993 1994 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008* 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 Projected Fall Actual Fall Enr. 12,587 12,759 12,129 12,767 13,596 13,767 13,707 13,604 14,871 15,231 14,867 14,623 15,157 15,056 16,069 16,900 17,341 17,660 18,239 18,728 19,240 19,765 20,846 21,479 22,176 Percent Change 1.4% -4.9% 5.3% 6.5% 1.3% -0.4% -0.8% 9.3% 2.4% -2.4% -1.6% 3.7% -0.7% 6.7% 5.2% 2.6% 1.8% 3.3% 2.7% 2.7% 2.7% 5.5% 3.0% 3.2% IF 2009 Fee - $30 Percent Change SC "Other" Pop. ---- 16,315 16,634 17,213 17,702 18,214 18,739 19,820 20,453 21,150 -2.4% 2.0% 3.5% 2.8% 2.9% 2.9% 5.8% 3.2% 3.4% Enrollment Fees 2017 2016 2015 2014 2013 2012 2011 2010 2009 2008 2007 2006 2005 2004 2003 2002 2001 2000 1999 1998 12000 SC County Unemp. It assumes that fees will remain at $20 per unit (an increase in fees will create downward pressure on enrollment) and it also assumes that the Santa Cruz county unemployment rate will remain high for the next three years and then begin to decline. A "what if" scenario has been added to assess the impact of an increase in enrollment fees to $30 as suggested by the LAO. *Fall 2008 final enrollment is estimated based on the Fall 2008 Census. One student possibly enrolling in multiple courses, except where noted. Number of students with declared Major, Success1 and retention2 rates, Licensure exam passing rates, and Degree/certificate awards. • FTES 3 • WSCH • • • • 4 5 FTEF load (WSCH/FTEF), % of WSCH, and % of FTEF Non-credit courses are excluded. Information on non-credit courses is presented at the end of this section. Note that " % change " indicates the change from the previous academic year - a one-year change. 1 Success = Course enrollment divided by the number of grades A, B, C, or CR awarded Source: Data Warehouse. 2 Retention = Course enrollment divided by the number of grades A, B, C, D, F, CR, or NC awarded Source: Data Warehouse. 3 FTES = total WSCH (all students) divided by 525 and multiplied by 17.0 (the Term Length Multiplier). This is the formula used for calculating FTES, a major component of annual CCC apportionment. The actual apportionment calculation looks at other factors such as student residency status, among others. Source: Datatel XFTE report. 4 WSCH = Weekly Student Contact Hours - the number of hours per week that a course meets times enrollment. Lab hours are counted at one-third value. WSCH for short-term courses are pro-rated. WSCH for Open-Entry and Positive hour courses are calculated on actual attendance. WSCH for Independent Study courses are based on units. Source: Datatel XFTE report. 5 FTEF = Full Time Equivalent Faculty is based on the TU's (teaching units) utilized by the department in classrom instruction divided by 15. Reassigned time is not included. One FTEF is equal to one instructor load of 15 teaching units in one major term. Source: Datatel XFAS - Facultly Assignment Sheets.
