The current model suggests that demand is driven chiefly by population factors, size of graduating high school classes, and enrollment fees. Demand is projected to be relatively stable or flat. An increase of $10 in student fees would be expected to lead to a drop of 7% in fall headcount. Strategic Enrollment Management initiatives may result in an actual enrollment pattern that deviates significantly from the enrollment level that is projected based on demand. *Fall 2009 final enrollment is estimated based on Fall 2009 census data. Projected fall enrollment is based on enrollment fees, county population, and projected high school graduating class size. The projection assumes that fees remain at $26 per unit (an increase in fees will create downward pressure on enrollment). Spring 2009 1800 1600 1200 1000 800 600 400 200 Age The median age is lower than the average age because there are relatively few older students, but the range of older students' ages is very great, causing the mean age to be substantially higher than the median age. The median represents the mid-point of the age distribution indicating that half our students are 24 or younger and half were 24 or older (for Fall 2008 and Spring 2009). One student possibly enrolling in multiple courses, except where noted. Number of students with declared Major, 1 2 Success and retention rates, Licensure exam passing rates, and Count of Degrees and certificates awarded. 3 • Time to award of Degrees and certificate. 4 • FTES • WSCH • • • • 5 6 FTEF load (WSCH/FTEF), % of WSCH, and % of FTEF Non-credit courses are excluded. Information on non-credit courses is presented at the end of this section. Note that " % change " indicates the change from the previous academic year - a one-year change. Degrees are Associate of Arts or Associate of Science . Certificates of Achievement require 18 or more units and are recorded on a student's academic transcript. Skill Certificates require fewer than 18 units and are not recorded on a student's academic transcript. 1 Success = Course enrollment divided by the number of grades A, B, C, or CR awarded Source: Data Warehouse. 2 Retention = Course enrollment divided by the number of grades A, B, C, D, F, CR, or NC awarded Source: Data Warehouse. 3 Time to degree or certificate is measured in semesters (2 per year). Individual student award dates are compared with the student's first semester of regular enrollment at Cabrillo, counting all intervening semesters, attending or not. Then, the semesters-to-award values for multiple students are averaged. 4 FTES = total WSCH (all students) divided by 525 and multiplied by 17.0 (the Term Length Multiplier). This is the formula used for calculating FTES, a major component of annual CCC apportionment. The actual apportionment calculation looks at other factors such as student residency status, among others. Source: Datatel XFTE report. 5 WSCH = Weekly Student Contact Hours - the number of hours per week that a course meets times enrollment. Lab hours are counted at one-third value. WSCH for short-term courses are pro-rated. WSCH for Open-Entry and Positive hour courses are calculated on actual attendance. WSCH for Independent Study courses are based on units. Source: Datatel XFTE report. 6 FTEF = Full Time Equivalent Faculty is based on the TU's (teaching units) utilized by the department in classrom instruction divided by 15. Reassigned time is not included. One FTEF is equal to one instructor load of 15 teaching units in one major term. Source: Datatel XFAS - Facultly Assignment Sheets.
