Alta served in Flor’s absence as Chair of committee
this semester. 3 hourly positions, priority:
 Box Office Specialist
 Facilities Use Coordinator – out of Extension

Process comments:
 Documents, forms and process are on the CPC
website.
 Misunderstanding of information requested.
Committee found that people were not following
the requested information. Criteria is listed, but
not always followed. Hard to rank the jobs
without all the information.
Questions/Comments:
 Next two meetings are a review of committee
feedback. Bring this information to CPC.
 Had the same feedback last fall. Concerned that
the process is not being followed.
 Need to clarify the process and procedure.
Perhaps would be useful to have a checklist.
 Need more training on the process
Alta will see the process through for this semester.

Include the kind of mandates that CPC is
responsible for reviewing? Related to budget
development.
Summary:
 Change the title to Institutional Planning
Timelines.
 Post on CPC as a draft – send it out to the college.
 Add other component pieces in the summer ready for a final draft in the fall.
Public Safety Program at Cabrillo provides in-service
training for law enforcement and emergency services.
Recommend that we be part of a South Bay JPA
consortium.
Questions/Comments:
 Will provide more flexibility
 Submit non-credit curriculum
 Classified support will not be needed – layoff
notices will go to May board
 There is some concern from the agencies as far as
support.
 Contract is year by year – can change depending
on enrollment
Process to allow faculty and others to consider grant
requests as part of their program plan needs, i.e.,
checkbox.

The new office has been inundated with requests –
we will figure this out. Some are easy and others are
more complex. Federal grants are more complex.

 Timeline for reduction planning?
Already started – will continue to bring updates to
CPC as they are completed. Hope to have a lot of
planning done in the fall.
 In the fall we will look at a more structured
timeline. Like to see what has been submitted –
will help guide us as we move forward.

Overview of revenue changes since January 2015
 State revenues are up – more funding will come to
community colleges – will see in the May revise
 COLA will be 1.02%
 Growth formula is still pending – will be
implemented as of 7/1/15.
Expenditure changes since January 2015:
 Increase in expenses; two faculty retirements
versus six. $160K
 Fiscal impact of new Sick Leave Law effective 7/1:
$30K – applies to employees who are paid

back as we know more.
 Total increase in expenditures to date: $190K
Decrease in expenditures:
 Medical plan increase 1.9% versus 8% (50%-50%
cost share) = $191K
 PERS Rate increase for 15-16 below estimate: rate
increase estimated at .83 current increase is .08 =
$56K
 Total decrease is expenditures to date: $247K
 Overall decrease in expenditures since January
2015 not including budget reductions = $57K

perhaps share on a quarterly basis.
Questions/Comments:
 When we previously had budget reductions, it
looks like we’ve spent more money on
management and less on the front line workers?
Helpful to know the costs of positions.
Will get that information.
 Only general fund savings?
 Don’t put down categorical pieces – have this on a
separate sheet?
 Have a notes column?

 Information needs to be clear.
