“Mija’s Love” Scholarship Application
"Mija’s Love” Scholarship was established by two retired teachers and a Cabrillo College alum, in hopes that high school girls
(especially Hispanic girls) are inspired to further their education and attend Cabrillo College. Mija is the Spanish abbreviation
of Mi Hija, or my daughter. Mija is a loving term parent’s use for their daughters. “Mija’s Love” honors the special relationship
that many Hispanic parents have with their daughters, and the hopes, dreams, and plans they have for them.
“Mija’s Love” Nonendowed Scholarship will be awarded to two students. The scholarship award is $2,000 per student which
will be allocated over four semesters as long as the recipients continue to meet the criteria.
Terms and Conditions
The following describes the selection criteria for the scholarship:
1. Student must be playing softball in their senior year at Pajaro Valley High School or Watsonville High School and
must complete the entire season (unless there has been an injury that did not allow student to complete the season).
2. Student must complete application and write a short essay: “W hy do you want to attend Cabrillo College?”
3. Student must graduate from High School.
4. Student must have a 2.0 GPA
5. Student must be enrolled in 12 units each semester at Cabrillo College
6. Student must maintain a 2.0 GPA and enroll in 12 units to be allocated their $500 scholarship award each semester
for four semesters
7. Selection by Cabrillo College High School Scholarship Committee
Timing and Disbursement:
April 15: Students must submit an application and materials to Ana Rodriguez, Financial Aid & Scholarships Office
May: Scholarship recipients will be notified if they are selected for the scholarship
August: Scholarship recipients will receive scholarship funds upon enrollment and meeting criteria
